Jazz at the Whitewater Hotel

The Whitewater has been promoting live jazz in the Fisherman's Bar since June 1994. It seems no time at all since Keith Moore and friends started the whole thing off...

In the beginning we struggled with small audiences, sometimes out- numbered by the musicians, but as word got out and time went by things improved until now when we are able to attract a good regular following even when the snow lies on the ground.

We promote bands from all over the north of England, concentrating on Traditional and New Orleans Styles.

Nothing could be more pleasant than sitting outside on our Riverside terrace, watching the fish feed, listening to the music drifting over the river.

From time to time, on a seasonal basis, the Whitewater hosts certain SPECIAL OFFERS. It may be that you are looking to spend a traditional Christmas in the English Lake District, a lively New Years break, a romantic weekend to celebrate Valentines Day or require a perfect setting for family weddings and celebrations. There may also be times when we can make special offers available. These entries are updated regularly, so please keep checking!

20/04/08 MIKE CARNIE AND HIS ALL STARS, a new band to the Whitewater but one with a great line-up. We are looking forward to this.

18/05/08 TONY DAVIS BAND, Liverpool band featuring names such as Billy Edwards, Dave Lee and Tony Davis.

08/06/08 PERDIDO STREET JAZZ AND ROCK & ROLL BAND, this band was tremendous last year, bring your dancing shoes. (Please note this is an amended date)

20/07/08 TUXEDO JAZZ BAND A fine new Orleans style band from Liverpool/Chester, led by Brian Woods on drums.

17/08/08 BRIAN CARRICK'S ALGIERS STOMPERS Regulars at the Whitewater know how well we rate this band.

21/09/08 RAE BROTHERS NEW ORLEANS JAZZ BAND, we couldn't let the year close without another fix from this band.

19/10/08 VIEUX CARRE JAZZ BAND, with an extended band (from 4 to 6 piece) we are looking forward to hearing Brian Bennett's New Orleans style band from the North East.

23/11/08 FOREST NEW ORLEANS JAZZ BAND this evening will be in the Riverside Restaurant free of charge.
